Birds starting to fly.

Some recordings meant to work as the flapping of bat wings. To record this, i just used a plant with slightly leathery/plastic-sounding leaves and shook it a few times in front of a mic. Simple but effective!.

A raven flying by overhead in a forest on gabriola island off the coast of bc. Some droney ambiance from steel mill across the water in nanaimo. As the raven flies overhead, it is remarkable how well the mic picked up the flapping of its wings. Recorded with a zoom h2.

H2n zoom placed underneath a feeding place for small birds as they go back and forth between the feeder and trees close by. Towards the end a tractor drives in the distance and a cat walks by making the birds fly away at once.

I fluttered a plastic spatula in front of my tlm-103 in the studio. It's recorded at 96k, 32 bits, so you can stretch it or pitch it any way you want. If you want it to sound small you'll want to filter off the low end. On the other hand, you can probably get some fun gigantic effects by using just the bass, or even pitching it down. The last breath of a creature, maybe a dragon, whatever floats your boat. I'm a game developer, but i also like creating sfx, and other cool stuff. So i was feeling like creating a small mmo for fun, but thought to myself;how on earth am i going to make all those sounds?so i searched a bit on the net for possible cool sfx techniques, and later on decided to just experiment with audacity myself. For this sound i recorded my own voice two times (i can make some weird sounds),and edited them in audacity. The result came out as some kind of dragon, and i was pretty pleased with it being my first organic voice. Use for whatever you like, a credit and a rate would be appreciated.
